DOST offers scholarship to college students to teach in highschool math and science

DAVAO CITY – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is offering scholarships to qualified Junior Level College students to teach science and mathematics in secondary schools in the country.

The DOST said the scholarship is under RA (Republic Act) 10612 also known as “Fast-tracked Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 2013.”

“RA 10612 aims to strengthen the country’s science and technology education by fast tracking graduates in the sciences, mathematics and engineering who shall teach science and mathematics in secondary schools throughout the country,” said the DOST in a press release.

After graduation, “the scholar shall be given opportunity for job placement in high schools in the country, be employed with a position equivalent to Special Science Teacher I in the Philippine Science High School System.”

The DOST said the hired scholars will “be given one-time relocation allowance should he/she be assigned in a place other than the permanent residence.”

Examination date is on July 12, 2015.
