Opposition using ‘ghost whistleblowers’ to discredit polls: TU

MANILA — Team Unity yesterday blasted the Genuine Opposition (GO) for its crude but coordinated effort to discredit the May 14 senatorial elections in collaboration with other anti-Arroyo forces by raising manufactured stories of electoral fraud and falling for every tall tale on cheating that is being fed to them even by anonymous individuals or ghost whislteblowers.

Philippines: ‘Comelec must account for Mindanao’

The Black & White Movement asks the Comelec – what gives in Mindanao? We are dismayed at the accounts coming out of provinces of Maguindanao, Shariff Kabunsuan, Sulu and Lanao del Sur. What is more appalling is the slowness with which Comelec is responding to the various crises affecting the region. It is a pity that the Comelec doesn’t seem to be doing anything to restore the people’s faith.

Philippines, Spain sign treaty on transfer of sentenced persons

21 May 2007 ? Philippine Ambassador to Spain Joseph D. Bernardo y Medina reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that he signed the ?Treaty on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons between the Philippines and Spain,? with the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Miguel Angel Moratinos on 18 May 2007.

The signing ceremony, which was held at the Palacio de Santa Cruz of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, was attended by invited Spanish and Filipino guests, Embassy personnel, Members of the Spanish Parliament and representatives from the media.
