DAVAO ORIENTAL Expected to spur growth and development in the capital town of Davao Oriental, the Philippine Ports Authority, with the help of some lawmakers in the province, is pushing for the expansion of the Mati wharf.
The PPA is optimistic that the Mati Wharf expansion project will boost the local economy. The project was started April this year and is bound for completion in 2007.
It is a P60 million project, covering 120 meters expansion at the right and left wing of the wharf, said Aida Pajo of the Philippine Ports Authority-Davao Oriental. But the left wing will cover more of the expansion.
The PPA also did not have any qualms in financing the said project.
Rep. Mayo Almario of the second district of Davao Oriental is excited and grateful that the project has finally started. All those time spent on follow-ups have paid off. I am grateful to PPA administrator Atty. Oscar Sevilla for not failing me, Almario said. (Philippine Information Agency)
