DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The provincial government of Compostela Valley is prepping up up for their 10th year annual celebration of Bulawan (Gold) Festival.
Joana Aileen Gentugaya, designated action officer of this year’s Bulawan Festival presented various activities which will start on March 4 and culminate on March 8.
The festival, according to Gentugaya, will serve as the province’s thanksgiving to its stakeholders. “This is a way thanking everyone and showcasing the beauty of Comval.”
A motorcade and float parade in the province will kick off the celebration.
Various celebrities and government agency heads are expected to join the Bulawan Festival such as Philippine National Police head Ronald dela Rosa, Senate Committee on Indigenous People Chairwoman Nancy Catamco, and Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo.
“We will start with a motorcade and float parade participated by 11 municipalities in the province. And invited people from the business sector to join the parade,” she said.
She added that the important part is the “First Governor Shoot Fest,” where the PNP chief will be the guest.
“He will also be joining in the opening ceremonies,” she added.
Local talents in the province, singers, musical bands, will also be showcased all through out the duration of the festival duration.
On March 5, a Bayani Fun Run will be held where all of its proceeds will be used to construct more classrooms and schools for the children in the province. The participant is said to only pay for the singlet of P250 to join the run.
“Help us create classrooms and share creating brighter future for the children of ComVal,” Gentugaya said.
A beauty contest is also part of the festivities where each municipality will have their own contestant to compete.
“This is one of the popular events in Bulawan, each contingent has Bulawan Queen,” Gentugaya added.
The fourth day of the celebration will be for the Indigenous Peoples where Catamco will be one of the special guests.
“She will be there, to update us different projects for the IP,” Gentugaya said.
On the culmination night, Sec. Dateyo will be their guest and will end with a unity concert dubbed as “Bulawanong Panaghiusa.”
The said concert, according to Gentugaya, will be sponsored by Compostela Valley Governor Tyrone Uy, Vice Governor Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora, ComVal 1st District Rep. Maricar Zamora, 2nd District Rep. Roel Gonzaga, and former Governor Arturo Uy. (davaotoday.com)
