TAGUM CITY — Mati authorities have stepped up its preparations for the upcoming Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) 2015 meet, a qualifying meet for the 2015 Palarong Pambansa, to be held on February 24-28, 2015 at Mati Centennial Sports Complex in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
Mati City Mayor Carlo Luis P. Rabat said that some 6,000 athletes, technical officials and visitors will attend the said activity.
“Along with this increased tourist arrivals, investment promotion is as well expected to generate better income, thus boost the local economy,” he said.
Felipe Non, regional chief and technical support of Department of Education, gave a detailed hosting orientation before the local government officials and representatives from various agencies.
On Friday, Reynaldo M. Guillena, DepEd Mati schools division superintendent, appealed for support from various sectors, saying “we need the sectors’ full support because Davraa opens a window of opportunity to all sectors specifically in the tourism and business sectors.”
He said that necessary preparations were done in full swing particularly since there will be 10 billeting venues being prepared for the delegations, technical and officiating officials, among others.
He added that one of the preparations was the Refresher Course for the Davraa Meet Technical Officials that will be held on February 22-23, 2015.
“We need this kind of activity to keep the tournament officials informed and updated with the competition rules in their respective events,” Guillena stressed.
DepEd Regional Director Alberto Escobarte, meanwhile, issued a Regional Memorandum No. 10. S. 2015 which established the various Davraa 2015 committees.(davaotoday.com)
