DAVAO CITY — Prime movers of a so-called Davao branding system are optimistic that Proudly Davao products will soon find their way to the international market.
The branding system is a joint effort pushed by the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) through PROPEL (Promoting Regional Opportunities for Enterprise and Livelihood Development) and the city government of Davao.
In an interview with PROPEL project coordinator of Davao Leny V. Castillo, she said the branding will be presented to target beneficiaries the micro and small and medium entrepreneur for them to buy it out.
She said they are now at the pilot stage but basically the objective is to create a strong identity and market presence for quality Davao produce and to come up with a compendium for easy access by both individual and institutional markets both here and abroad.
She said the Proudly Davao Made Project seeks to upgrade the current level of appreciation for excellence and quality of locally manufactured products.
This homegrown product of exceptional quality will be introduced with the branding system but needs to pass accreditation.
A widely accepted and highly regarded product accreditation system is spearheaded by DCCCII, the Davao City SME Development Council, the Department of Trade and Industry Davao City field office, and the city government of Davao to distinguish high-quality Davao products.
With this scheme the public will be made aware of the best products of the city by simply looking for the Proudly Davao product seal of excellence, she said.
A lot still has to be made and a strong marketing support is needed.
She said that when things progress they need to seek the help of trade and commercial desks in Philippine embassies around the globe.
