DAVAO CITY – Tourism and local government officials are bullish to double the number of tourists in the city by launching its marketing gimmick dubbed ‘Visit Davao Fun Sale.’
The Visit Davao Fun Sale (VDFS), an offshoot of last year’s Big Davao Fun Sale, will focus on featuring tourist attractions in the region especially in Davao City.
“Last year it was just participated by malls. Right now with the support of the whole tourism industry of Davao City, we are expecting more tourists to come here,” Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Director Roberto Alabado III said.
The campaign offers fun packages which will be in full operation from April 3 to May 17. This covers all sectors of tourism from tours, accommodation, facilities, dining, shopping and adventure.
“This time around, we are looking at not just shopping but going around tours, eating the best food that we have here in Davao, experiencing a good madayaw massage. So, we would like to double everything,” he said.
He also said that they are having partnerships with tour operators and airlines to be more “attractive” to local and foreign tourists.
“With the cooperation of all our partners in private sector, we are now going to present very attractive packages to our travellers during summer,” he said.
Meanwhile, Secretary of VDFS Execom May Aranda said that the city-wide sale is not limited for tourists alone, but also for local residents.
Last year during the Big Davao Fun Sale campaign, the number of tourists increased from 190,334 in 2013 to 195,713. (davaotoday.com)
