DAVAO CITY—The Department of Energy (DOE) is requesting the public to employ a more judicious use of energy on May 10 as their way of sharing the responsibility in ensuring successful elections.
DOE made the call specifically to the Department of Education, who will directly participate in the electoral process. DOE requested that they veer away from unnecessary use of electrical appliances in polling places.
DOE also encouraged everyone at home to restrain from using electricity to make sure that the power supply is enough to service election needs.
Members of the media and other non-governmental organizations who will observe the elections are also requested to provide for their own power requirements. They are required to bring batteries for their respective equipment and power needs in order to secure the power supply on May 9 until 11.
The national and local elections will take place in more than 36,679 designated voting centers nationwide (7,555 voting centers in Manila, 10,213 in Visayas, and 9,983 in Mindanao. (PIA XI)
