Military is peeved in facing stark truth
It was a matter of time for the Eastern Mindanao Command of the AFP to rear its ugly fascist head and further expose the US-Aquino regime’s Oplan Bayanihan for what it really is: a relic of the bloody counter-revolutionary wars of the previous regimes.
EastMinCom spokesperson Col. Leopoldo Galon confirmed all along what petrifies him and the AFP–the truth. In being allergic to an anti-military streamer that was hung on the gate of Assumption College of Davao, Galon is mad that even after the obviously stage-managed arrest of a fall guy, the killing of Fr. Fausto “Pops” Tentorio is still hounding the military establishment to its grave. Galon is irked that the military and the US-Aquino regime have failed miserably to divert the damning public sentiment that the military is behind the extra-judicial killing of the beloved priest.
Galon is peeved that Assumption nuns respect justice in the same breath that they value honesty and courage in calling the military accountable for the murder of a fellow member of the Church. Galon is crying foul yet he misses the point. No matter how it tries hard in sweetening its mercenary image, the military simply cannot tolerate criticism and hates truth when confronted with it.
And by accusing the Assumption of toeing the Communist Party of the Philippines-New Peoples Army –National Democratic Front) CPP-NPA-NDF propaganda line, the military is fast running out of lies and empty replies to counter the wave upon wave of atrocities it is being accused and guilty of. Fr. Fausto Tentorio is again killed anew, now twice made the victim in the military’s swift silencing of the truth and gagging the wails of justice.
The Assumption community and the people must seek to discover the truth in pursuit of justice. Enlightened students and the academic community should not cower in silence and wallow in the chilling effect of the military’s veiled threats. The US-Aquino regime’s Oplan Bayanihan must be thwarted, now that it is further exposed as targeting hapless civilians, students, parents, nuns and teachers.
