Virgilio Garcillano, the former Comelec commissioner who allegedly facilitated President Arroyo’s victory in the 2004 elections, has told ABS-CBN television that he has conceded defeat as congressional candidate in the first district of Bukidnon.
He rued what he called as “black propaganda” waged against him by gubernatorial candidate Jose Zubiri and congressional bet Malou Acosta.
“As early as 10 last night, I was already sure that I was going to lose,” he told the network this morning. The canvassing of votes in his province is still ongoing.
Garcillano had earlier decried Philippine politics because of the fraud. He said this morning that he did not want to run for congressman and was only forced to do it to clear his name. “I have not been craving for this position,” he said. (davaotoday.com)
