Environmental activists delivered a “Notice of Closure” to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau here on Tuesday in a protest action on the eve of International Earth Day.
Panalipdan Southern Mindanao spokesperson, Prof. Kim Gargar, said they are declaring the MGB as “inutile” for allowing foreign large-scale corporations including Glencore-Xstrata-SMI, Indophil, Apex, Oz Metals, and St. Augustine. Gargar said the MGB has facilitated the destruction of the Philippine environment and the continuing suffering for thousands of peasants and indigenous peoples in the countryside.
