DAVAO CITY, Philippines—City Councilor Bernard Al-ag urged the City Transport and Traffic Office and Land Transport Office to ban overloaded trucks plying from Barangay Mandug to Callawa to prevent further damage to the roads.

Al-ag cited City Ordinance No. 0334-12 which contains the regulations of weights and loads of vehicles in public streets.

His statement came as some parts of the roads in Barangays Tigatto, Mandug and Callawa were severely damaged because of the overloaded trucks.

The city councilor pointed out that since Mandug and Callawa are quarry areas, heavy trucks are likely to be blamed for damaging the roads.

With this, he is mulling to pass a resolution urging both the CTTMO and LTO to strictly implement City Ordinance No. 0334 series of 2012 and Sec 9 RA 416 in the city.

“We already have an existing policy and ordinance to regulate this problem we don’t need to pass another law or ordinance to prevent the further damage of our roads,” he added. (davaotoday.com)
