DAVAO CITY, Philippines— The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said the weekend holidays in city was peaceful and normal due to heightened security and the smooth coordination with the public.
Catherine Dela Rey, city police spokesperson, said that despite some confiscated deadly weapons, the whole city and all private and public cemeteries were generally peaceful and normal.
Police also confiscated cigarettes, lighter and a bottle of liquor, all banned items in the cemeteries due to the existing liquor and cigarette ban in public places.
“In Buhangin, a liquor was transferred to a juice bottle, but the person was caught and the liquor was confiscated,” she said.
There were no reported crime incidence in all 34 public and private cemeteries here.
“We intensified the information dissemination now, we repeatedly remind the people the objects that are prohibited inside the cemetery,” she said.
Public and private cemeteries also put up tarpaulins that warn the public on what not to bring inside the cemeteries to avoid confiscation.
The DCPO deployed 2,600 police in the city starting last Monday, October 31 and will on Thursday, November 3. (davaotoday.com)
