Butuan City?In his sortie last night in Butuan, Agusan del Norte, Lakas-CMD senatorial candidate, internationally acclaimed actor, director and movie producer Cesar Montano bared his agenda for the development of the rural areas. In an extemporaneous speech that moved the crowd in Butuan, Cesar Montano said that his platform to develop the country-side is simple but effective. It is summed up by his name?C.E.S.A.R. This stands for Cooperative, Entrepreneurship, Support Services, Rural Productivity, and Rural Infrastructure. ?Contrary to my critics claim that I have no agenda,? Montano said, ?my name represents my agenda for country-side development. Pngalan ko and paninindigan ko (my name is my commitment).?

MANILA — In the wake of a leaked Palace memo detailing a hatchet job on progressive
partylists and putting up pro-administration partylists to dominate
Congress, Gabriela Women?s Partylist Representative Liza Largoza Maza today
strongly urged the dissolution of Agbiag Timpuyog Ilocano, Babae Ka, Kalahi
and LYPAD as bogus partylists since their officers and nominees are
government officials.

MANILA — The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) and the ANAKPAWIS party list group raised a howl and expressed their dismay on the apparent feet dragging of the Commission on Election (COMELEC) on the electioneering cases they filed against the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and high officials of the Macapagal-Arroyo regime while railroading cases against them.

MANILA — Anakpawis Representative and political detainee today said that the Commission on Elections should stop dilly-dallying on the issue of fake and government-funded party-lists and take action to immediately disqualify these.

Philippines: ‘A vote for Bayan Muna is a vote against political killings’

Dear kababayan,

The May 14 elections is an opportunity for Filipinos to say NO to
extrajudicial killings. The government must respect and uphold human
rights and civil liberties, including those of critics and activists.
Genuine democracy demands respect for oppositionist and critical
voices.

As of today, 838 civilians have been slain. Among them are 130 members
of Bayan Muna, one of the groups critical of the Arroyo government,
and which champions the Politics of Change vis-a-vis traditional
politics. International and independent probes have pointed at the
Arroyo government and the military for the failure to stop the
violence and for having the motive to kill the activists.
