GENERAL Santos City ? Congressional bet Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao said that he will respect the outcome of the May 14 elections after signing the covenant last Wednesday here at the Sanguniang Panglungsod session hall.

?Irerespeto ko kung sino man yung pipilin ng mga tao,? said the 28-year old Pacquiao, who is running against incumbent Congresswoman Darlene Antonino-Custodio in the First District of South Cotabato.

Five ComVal Towns ‘Hot Spots’ Due to NPA

DAVAO CITY – Five towns in Compostela Valley are placed under areas of immediate concern of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) due to heightened communist insurgency in those places.

Sr. Supt. Nestor Quinsay, Compostela Valley police director, identified the five as Monkayo, Laak, New Bataan, Pantukan and Montevista.

Philippines’s Pacquiao Blazes Campaign Trail

GENERAL SANTOS CITY -? Boxing icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao appears to have scrapped his usual post-fight break this time in favor of yet another fight.

Barely three days after successfully defending his World Boxing Council International Super Featerweight title in San Antonio, Texas last Sunday, Pacquiao returned home this morning to prepare for his May 14 matchup against incumbent Rep. Darlene Antonino-Custodio for the first district congressional seat of South Cotabato.

Renewed Fighting in Philippines Will Not Affect elections — Gov’t

MANILA — Malacanang assured the public today that the ongoing conflict between government troops and a breakaway group of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in Sulu would definitely not affect the forthcoming elections in the province.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said in his regular weekly press briefing in Malacanang the government is doing its best to ensure that the renewed fighting in Panamao town between the military and the group of MNLF commander Uztads Habier Malik will not affect other municipalities in Sulu.
