Why we must abolish our grading system, and why we can’t

Teachers are demanded to grade objectively. Students are commanded to deliver. And while this seems to be the most efficient way to identify who “passes” and who “fails”, it disregards the human aspect of education. In fact, it is this obsession with efficiency and production that reveals how misplaced the priority of our education system is.

Teachers’ group says 4Ps failed to improve enrollment in public schools

The government’s Conditional Cash Transfer program has not improved the enrolment rate in both elementary and secondary schools despite the increase of budget it received from 2011 to 2015.

Lowly miners leave tunnels to camp out vs. US mining firm

Small-scale miners and peasants in this town have been up in arms against the no-habitation policy, saying it displaced and deprived them of their livelihood.  They reckoned, the move is in favor of big and foreign mining capitalists.
