Suspended Philippine National Police Special Action Force Commander Getulio Napeñas belied the allegations made by Armed forces chief General Gregorio Catapang that PNP-SAF failed to coordinate with the military’s ground commander during the encounter with Moro fighters in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
Napeñas told the media Wednesday that the result of the Board of Inquiry would show that grid coordinates were forwarded to PNP chief Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina who forwarded it to the armed forces Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. General Rustico Guerrero.
“[Makikita] dun sa resulta ng Board of Inquiry yung mga grid coordinates na pino-forward ko kay Espina na siyang ipino-forward din niya kay General Guerrero,” Napeñas said.
Napeñas said he was also forwarding grid coordinates of the SAF team to both AFP and PNP officials in the area.
“Dun sa Board of Inquiry makikita yung grid coordinates na exchanges namin,” Napeñas said.
AFP Chief General Gregorio Catapang said SAF Commander General Napeñas failed to coordinate with the AFP’s Ground Commander on the day of the operation.
