DAVAO CITY – The Sibulan Porters Association received on Wednesday new mountaineering equipment from USAID – BWISER (Biodiversity and Watershed Improved for Stronger Economy and Ecosystems Resilience).
The new equipment includes one camping tent, three backpacks, one tent liner, six sleeping bags, six power zoom headlamps, one camping lantern, one camping stove, one cooking set, one first aid kit, 12 batteries and 12 butanes.
The project hopes to provide Mt. Apo porters with appropriate gears in climbing the mountain.
A Philippine Information Agency dispatch said the group also received similar grant in 2013 from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region XI as its prime enterprise development activities that eventually provided alternative livelihood opportunity to its growing number of membership.
