DAVAO CITY – The New People’s Army disarmed on Sunday the private armed group of the local town mayor in Maragusan, Compostela Valley Province.
In a statement, the NPA said Mayor Cesar Colina, Sr has a private armed group led by the mayor’s alleged private secretary who they identified as Noli Tanguyoc.
The NPA said they carried their operation at 5:15 am on Sunday attacking 13 armed guards of the mayor who were resting at Barangay Langgawisan in Maragusan.
The NPA said no gun shots were fired during their operation where they seized five firearms and three communication radios.
There was no gun fired during the operation while the NPA-CVDEC-SRC was able to seize a KG 9 sub-machine gun, three .45 caliber pistols, a “senorita” .45 caliber pistol and three i-com radios),” said the NPA.
The personnel of Mayor Colina were said to be on their third day of their visit to the communities in Barangay Langgawisan and Barangay Bahi to do a survey and mapping of the households affected by Typhoon Pablo (international name:Bopha) in 2012.
But the NPA said the mayor is only using it as an alibi.
Their objective is to prepare for his political interest for the 2016 elections. It has been three years since typhoon Pablo occurred and it is only now that the housing projects for the calamity survivors are being provided),” said the NPAs.
The NPAs also said that the town mayor is spying on the operations of the revolutionary movement.
They also warned the politicians not to use the funds for the typhoon Pablo rehabilitation for political interest.(davaotoday.com)
