DAVAO CITY – The New Peoples Army released on Thursday morning the two Bureau of Jail Management and Penology jail officers captured last Arpil 27.
Jail Officers Juan Salazar and Feliciano Polan were released in Barangay Libasod, San Miguel town, Surigao del Sur.
Salazar and Feliciano were captured after the NPAs ambushed a BJMP vehicle carrying two inmates along the national highway in Barangay Amontay, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur. The vehicle was going to Lianga of the same province from Tandag City to facilitate the attendance of inmates for court hearings.
The officers were released to Surigao del Sur Governor Johnny T. Pimentel, Tandag City Bishop Nerio Odchimar; Tago town Mayor Rogelio Pimentel; Marihatag town Mayor Allan Pelino; and San Miguel town Mayor Alvaro Elizalde.
