DAVAO CITY – Thousands of peace advocates will be marching from Sandiganbayan to the House of Representatives on May 11 in support of the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law.
The event dubbed “Bangsamoro Para sa Bayan, Para sa Lahat” will coincide with the voting on BBL by the Ad Hoc Committee of the House of Representatives.
The mobilization is organized by the All Out Peace campaign, Friends of the Bangsamoro, Mindanao Solidarity Network, National Peace Council and Friends of Peace. Similar events will also take place on the same day in other cities including Davao City, Cagayan de Oro, Kidapawan, Cotabato City and Iloilo.
While there is a reported consensus by Congress that the proposed BBL will eventually be passed, peace groups said that a watered-down version of the law may not really represent the interest of the peoples of Mindanao for peace, justice, and progress in the region rooted in the recognition of their right to self-determination.
