DAVAO CITY – Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte said that they are planning to amend the local ordinance of Davao City in the wake of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s reported disapproval over the election of Halila Sudagar as the new Indigenous People Mandatory Representative (IPMR).
Mayor Duterte reportedly objected to Sudagar’s win because the latter already served as the Sangguniang Kabataan representative to the City Council from 2007 to 2010.
“The Lumad elders will choose five nominees and it is up to the mayor to select and appoint the IP representative,” Vice Mayor Duterte said.
The amendment will be spearheaded by the Committee on Rules, Privileges, Laws and Ordinances, headed by Councilor Bernard Al-ag.
