DAVAO CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Davao del Norte warned the public of a certain soft drink, believed to have contained gasoline and distributed in the villages in Tagum City for a lower price.
Delvin Santos of the DTI Consumer Welfare Division said their office received a complaint from a consumer, who experienced a burning feeling in the throat and even smelled gasoline after drinking an RC Cola, which was brought by an office mate.
Santos added that the complainant narrated that the 1.5 liter RC Cola was bought by an office mate from a person distributing it in trisikad in their village for only P18 on May 16.
He said that only one bottle was bought by the office mate but saw four cases of it in the trisikad.
He reported that the cola was sealed when bought and was brought to the workplace and placed in the office refrigerator.
He said that it was only on May 18 that the RC Cola was opened and drank by the complainant, who was later brought to the Regional Hospital after the burning sensation on his throat.
The complainant was advised to bring the case to the Department of Health – Food and Drugs Administration.
Alfie Repotana of RC Cola Davao Plant encouraged the complainant to bring the samples to their office in Toril for them to examine it and eventually, act on the said concern.
