Aug. 26, 2015

DAVAO CITY – The local government of Island Garden City of Samal (IGACoS) will immunize all Grade 1 and Grade 7 students in the 20 public high schools and 51 public elementary schools in the city to support the Department of Health’s (DoH) nationwide school-based Immunization Program.

In a press release of City Information Office of Igacos, Public Health Nurse Christine Enriquez Lara said that they will “strive to reach the 100% of the total population despite the difficulties.”

Lara added that they need to have the parents consent before giving them the immunization shots and to screen the students for possible allergies.

CIO Igacos said, “the health team conducts a briefing  to the students before the immunization process with parents or  guardians of elementary students and screening of female Grade VII students.”

The team is composed of every district’s rural health physicians in Igacos and some nurses from the Department of Education.

The said immunization program was implemented last August 10-28 in all public schools in the city through Memorandum Order number 288 signed by City Mayor Aniano P. Antalan. (davaotoday.com)
