Senator Alan Cayetano withdrew his co-authorship of the Bangsamoro Basic Law following the deadly clash between the Philippine National Police elite operatives, and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
In a statement sent to media Monday, Cayetano said he “doubts if the peace agreement will still live.”
Cayetano said the basis of the peace agreement is the framework “that there is rule of law.”
“What is the BBL for if as early as now they cannot control the area? Is that how they would respond if 50 police are killed – that they would not coordinate?” Cayetano said.
Cayetano said “out of good faith” the MILF could have arrested the alleged terrorist themselves and have it presented to authorities.
