DAVAO CITY – The City Government of Tagum granted scholarships to 26 qualified college students under the city’s City Educational Scholarship Program (CESPRO).
In a press release by the Tagum City government, the scholarships are “mainly funded by the local government pursuant to City Ordinance No. 17 passed in 1999.”
“Each scholar is entitled to P15,000 per semester, P1,500 book allowance, P1,000 uniform allowance and P500 pesos monthly stipend,” it said.
The 26 city scholars were chosen from 238 applicants from the different barangays of Tagum City “who underwent a rigorous screening process that included an examination and an interview.”
The other bases for the scholarship are the parents’ income which should not exceed P100, 000 annually, the number of siblings and the applicants’ general average.
“Some of the qualified scholars this year came from the city’s Muslim and indigenous peoples communities and those whose parents are either with disabilities, senior citizens and solo parents,” the city government said.
“Scholars should be able to maintain a grade of 85 percent per subject to be able to continue in availing the said scholarship grant,” it said.
