DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office (DNPPO) announced on Wednesday, November 22, that security officials are already geared up for the upcoming 6th Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) Boy Scout Jamboree next week.
Police Superintendent Julius Borja of DNPPO told reporters that all security plans of the office and other security forces have been laid out, assuring that local and foreign delegates are safe during the week-long event in Tagum City, beginning November 27.
Borja said at least 2,000 security personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and its counterparts will be deployed on strategic areas of Tagum City especially on the Energy Park in Apokon, the main venue, and other areas where delegates will be accommodated.
A task unit convoy was also established to assist participants on their travel from the airport in Davao City to the venue.
About 29,000 scouts from 16 countries in Asia are expected to join the event. Of the estimate, at least 19,641 scouts have registered as of November 20, Borja added.
“By this time, we are already prepared for the said event. All of our security preparations are laid out including our special task groups to ensure the peace and order on the said dates,” Borja said during the AFP-PNP press briefing at the Mandaya Hotel. (davaotoday.com)
