DAVAO CITY – Dabawenyos took part in a nationally-coordinated fun run to raise funds for helping young children.
The fun run, initiated by big milk and dairy company of Alaska Milk Corp, aimed to contribute 1.8 liters of milk per child under Children’s Hour.
The activities included a fun run and Zumba dance exercise on Sunday.
A report of the Philippine Information Agency said that 277 Davaoenos joined the family run and 280 participated in the Zumba exercise.
Alaska’s press statement cited a 2008 survey of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute, stating that not less than 16 million Filipinos above 20 years old to be overweight.
The 3rd year family fun run of Alaska was held simultaneously in Manila, Baguio, Cebu and Davao with live telecast on wide screen at the respective activity site.
In Davao City, the winners of the three-kilometer run for female category were Nadia Villata, Jennifer Toria and Daisy Famador for the first, second and third place respectively.
For the male category, Michael Jhon Sanico was declared champion, Michael Barosa won second place and Symon Cubal got the third place.
