DAVAO CITY – A cooperative from Tagum City was recently awarded the 1st Galing Pook Citizenship Award 2015 in a ceremony held in Pasay City from August 30 to September 1.
Tagum Cooperative bested other groups namely Shountoug Foundation, Inc., a Cordillera-based non-government organization (NGO); Mahintana Foundation, Inc., based in South Cotabato; Concerned Citizens of Abra for Good Government, Inc, in Abra; and Balay Mindanaw Foundation, Inc., in Cagayan de Oro City.
Tagum City also bagged the Galing Pook Award for local government units last year, where its Night Market Program was chosen from among 96 entries nationwide.
The Galing Pook Foundation, this year, launched the 1st Galing Pook Citizenship Award to recognize and promote the initiatives of individuals and civil society organizations amidst economic difficulties in the country.
The first Galing Pook Citizenship Awardee 2015 with the theme “Mamamayani Galing Pook Governance Fair” was held at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. (davaotoday.com)
