DAVAO CITY — Suspected New People’s Army shot dead two government soldiers after coming out from a barangay fiesta at 3:00 am Thursday Mabini, Compostela Valley, the Army here said.

Captain Ernest Carolina, deputy public affairs officer of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division, said the two soldiers are Privates Jerwin Teodoro and Reyned Pasadao of the 71st Infantry Battalion Philippine Army.

Carolina said the soldiers attended the festivities of the 38th Araw ng Barangay Anitapan when “they were shot on the way back to the Anitapan patrol base from the gym”.

He said the soldiers sustained .45 caliber pistol wounds.

“They were in civilian (clothing), unarmed and clearly in capable of defending themselves.”

Carolina said the two “new privates” came from Nueva Ecija and that their families were already informed of the incident. (davaotoday.com)
