DAVAO CITY — The Police Regional Office 11 said that an estimate of 100 police officials are now undergoing training to know if they will be qualified to be part of the security group of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

Chief Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan, PRO 11 regional director, said that some police officers were selected  while some of them volunteered to join the President-elect.

“They are undergoing training and they will be re-assigned to the police security and protection group as part of the Presidential Security Group (PSG),” Gaerlan said in a press conference on Monday, June 13.

He said that the police officials will also undergo neuro-psychiatric test and medical examination.

Gaerlan said that they will replace the police officials who will be re-assigned to the PSG.

“From the regional headquarters, we will replace the police officials so that the city will not suffer the lack of police in the streets,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gaerlan said the PRO 11 will give assistance to the schools in the city as the classes open today.

“There will be detailed personnel who will provide protection and security for our students who starts their classes today and on the succeeding days” he said.

Gaerlan said that there will be available assistance desks located near the vicinity of the schools.

“If you have concerns on criminality and peace and order, the offices and the police station are open for request of assistance to the students and to the other school authorities,” Gaerlan said. (davaotoday.com)
