DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is coming to town, that will surely make Davaoenos huff and puff in shopping to around a million books to be sold for everyone.
The Big Bad Wolf book sale will be scheduled from November 23 to December 2 and will be open 24/7 at The Tent at Azuela Cove, Davao City
Living up to its hype, the world biggest book sale returns to the Philippines coming off from its successful sale in Manila and Cebu this year gathering more than 250,000 visitors. Now in Davao, bookworms here will expect over 20,000 titles from famous authors to children’s books sold at 50 percent to 90 percent discounts.
“What we want to do is to make reading affordable to everybody who wants to reads and loves books,” Miguel Mercado, Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Philippines marketing head said in its press conference on Monday.
The group envisioned to have the Big Bad Wolf Books not just about selling books but to spread reading to people around the world especially to those less fortunate.
Also, a portion of the proceeds from Big Bad Wolf Book Sale will go to its partner foundation Gawad Kalinga to support its endeavor to help poor Filipino communities. They will also be donating books to the foundation.
One of the founders of the Big Bad Wolf, Jacqueline Ng, hopes “those privileged few in the world who have the privilege to grow up from families or an environment that have access to books are able to help the person close to you or even the less fortunate to also enjoy that.”
The Big Bad Wolf book sale has started in Malaysia on 2009, and already toured across different cities in Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates.(davaotoday.com)
