Candidates for the Genuine Opposition dominated the senatorial elections in Davao City, with seven of them ending up in the top 12. Only three of the administration’s Team Unity ticket — Joker Arroyo, Edgardo Angara and Juan Miguel Zubiri — won. Two independents — Gringo Honasan and Francs Pangilinan — also made it. In the partylist elections, it seems the machinery of Lakas stalwart Rep. Prospero Nograles worked in ensuring that the Kalahi partylist, of which his son Karlo is the second nominee, take the top spot. Bayan Muna, which led in the 2004 elections here, was down to second place, followed by Gabriela. Before and after the elections, there were reports that Kalahi engaged in vote buying.
