DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Looking for a place to bond with your family this holiday season? Davao City’s People’s Park is attracting more visitors after the city government reconstructed the Fun Park area for the children.
The public park now has a dancing light show and illuminated trees perfect for a night stroll. The City Information Office on Friday, December 15 also announced that Santa Claus is available for a selfie from 5 pm to 9 pm.
The CIO said the city government allotted P4.5 million to renovate the fun park, which included the 360-square meter rubber mat floor that protects children from injuries.
“We reconstructed the fun park area so that we can comply with the safety standard that is a requirement for a children’s playground,” said City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Park manager Architect Jenny Ann Matuguinas said that the recent development of the park is also attracting foreign tourists.
“We observed an increase (in the number) of people visiting People’s Park. Whether they are Dabawenyos or foreigners, we can really see that they are enjoying our park,” Matuguinas said.
The park is open from 5 am until 10 pm. (davaotoday.com)
