DAVAO CITY – Customers of the Davao Light and Power Company (Davao Light) are urged to “be prudent” in using electricity as outages will continue until power supply from the Mindanao grid remain insufficient.
The Aboitiz-led distributor utility on Sunday, March 13, said Mindanao’s power situation is projected to worsen, aggravated by the effects of El Niño.
“The rotating power interruption will still be implemented as the major hydro power plants in Mindanao continues to decrease due to the impact of the El Nino Phenomenon. The situation is projected to worsen as we enter the summer months starting April 2016,” Davao Light said in a statement.
As such, its customers are told to expect outages that could last from 30 minutes up to an hour. The utility firm’s deficit currently hovers at 30 megawatts.
Davao Light said the its customers will see an improvement when its new generating plants will go online in May and August this year. (davaotoday.com)
