DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Residents on Saturday were surprised after the Davao City Water District (DCWD) implemented an emergency water service interruption in major areas here.
DCWD announced in a Facebook post that water reservoirs are in critical levels and many areas served by Line 2 will experience “low water pressure to no water while areas served by Line 1 facilities need additional time to recover for pressure build-up and line delivery.”
The entire Panorama Homes Subd., Bread Village in Buhangin and immediate environs experienced temporary water outage due to low water lever in Panorama reservoir from 1:18 pm with no estimated time of resumption.
At around 2 am, DCWD announced that there will be water interruption in all areas served by Line 1 of Dumoy Water Supply System on Saturday from 1 am to 7 am.
The DCWD said the water service interruption is needed due to an emergency mainline leak repair along McArthur highway corner Libby road in Puan.
Areas affected were Talomo, Ulas, Matina Aplaya, Matina, Langub, Bucana, Downtown, Ecoland Phases 1 to 7, Bo. Obrero, Pampanga, and Sasa and some areas in Bago Aplaya (Gulf View Executive Homes, Versari Village, Castro Village, Sto. Niño Village, Lower Rapnaga, and Plantacion Solariega), Bangkal (from corner Royal Valley to Balusong Bridge), Ma-a (from NCCC Mall to Emerald Village), and Agdao (Wilfredo Aquino, Gov. Vicente Duterte, Leon Garcia Sr., R. Castillo, Ubalde, Lapu-Lapu, San Antonio, and Centro) and immediate environs.
However, around 8 am DCWD announced that the water service interruption is extended until 5 pm but was completed earlier due at 11:20.
Around 12 pm, DCWD announced another emergency water service interruption from 12 pm to 4 pm in Cabantian areas served by Indangan production well no. 6 due to emergency mainline leak repair along Purok 15 located near the production well.
Areas affected were Holy Trinity Village, Countryville Executive Homes, Northcrest Subdivision, Emily Homes Phase I, II and III, Chula Vista Subdivision, Emilia Homes Subdivision, Cabantian Country Homes, Cecilia Heights Phase I and II, Priscilla Estates Phase I and II, Remedios Heights, Blue Diamond Village, Aspen Heights, Ilumina Heights, Soraya Homes, Deca Homes Cabantian, Victors Subdivision, Greenland Subdivision Phase I and II, Forestal, Kasilak Village, Dacudao Village, Celerina Heights, Hidalgo Homes, Canaan Village, Villa Alevida Subdivision, Madradeco Village, Adap Village, Millenium Village, St. Ignatius, Indangan Relocation, Anita’s Homeowner’s Association, Nueva Esperanza Village, Molave Homes Phase I, II and III, Sto. Niño Village, Greenhills Neighborhood Assn., Cabantian Road (Km.9 to Km.11), Arendain Village, Amakan Village, D’ Achievers Village, Bacahoa Village, Mountain View Village, Dela Peña Village, Doña Trinidad Village, Green Valley, Our Lady of Lourdes Homeowner’s Association, Purok San Miguel, Purok Sta. Cruz, Purok San Andres, Purok San Isidro and Purok San Agustin.
Areas in Toril served by Lubogan water supply system also experienced low water pressure to no water from 11 am to 11:20 am.
The DCWD management apologized in a statement Saturday.
“While these water service outages are emergency in nature and beyond the control of the water utility, DCWD is doing the best it can to hasten recovery time.” it said.
