DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Davao City Mayor and Presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio has placed herself under quarantine as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), her office reported on Thursday, March 12.
The City Government said Duterte despite not having any symptoms has signed up as Person Under Monitoring (PUM) with the City Health Office.
The mayor has met with Senator Sherwin Gatchalian yesterday, who has gone into self-quarantine after interacting with a resource person in a recent Senate committee hearing who tested positive for the COVID-19.
One of the mayor’s staff at her house became unwell on Wednesday night, who is now listed as PUM.
“While Mayor Sara has not suffered from flu-like symptoms, she chose to undergo self-quarantine to protect others if she may be found to be sick in the next few days,” said the city government in a statement.
Mayor Duterte-Carpio is now confined in an isolated bedroom at her residence and will continue to work through emails, messaging, and video telecon, it added. (davaotoday.com)
