DAVAO CITY – A man was shot dead inside an internet cafe while a bullet-riddled body of a woman was found lying along a street in a string of shooting and stabbing incidents in the first two days of this month.
The two persons were all killed in separate shooting incidents on Wednesday.
Police identified the man as Sergio Yute, Jr, 40, jobless and a resident of Arbor Acre St., Davao Farm, Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Agdao.
He was shot dead inside an internet cafe along Star Cross corner Nesisipi Street, also in the same barangay at around 11:00 am Wednesday.
Yute died on the spot with two gunshot wounds on his head and two on his back.
Investigator, Senior Police Officer 2 Nerio P. Dequito of the Sta.Ana Police Station 1, said a witness, who requested anonymity, said that while he and the victim were both sitting near the main door browsing through the net, two men entered the cafe and one of them drew the gun and shot the victim several times.
The suspect was described the suspect as chubby, and 5’7″ in height.
The suspects immediately left the cafe aboard an orange Yamaha Mio motorcycle. Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered five spent cartridges at the crime scene.
The remains of the victim was brought to a funeral parlor in Cabaguio Avenue.
Earlier at predawn Wednesday, a body of a woman was found along a street in Barangay Langub and was identified as Mary Grace Sucaje, 35, married, jobless, and resident of Phase 3 , Purok 6, Sitio Mahayahay of the same barangay.
Two barangay tanods in the area told investigators that they heard a gun fired while crossing Sitio Mohon at 3:00 am.
Barangay tanods Felix Janolino and Angel Rabina Hermocilla said they saw a speeding red pick-up from Purok 4, Sitio Kauswagan heading towards the Diversion Road.
Another barangay tanod said he saw Sucaje’s body faced down the road in Purok 4 at 5:00 am.
Sucaje sustained a gunshot wound in the neck and right arm. She was identified by her father, Christopher Deloso who is a resident of Guadalupe Village, Matina Crossing of this city.
The SOCO team recovered five fired cartridges from a .45 caliber and one deformed slug.
Police also found in her bag a Philippine passport, identification cards, and other personal belongings.
Sucaje’s body was brought to a funeral parlor in Bangkal for the required autopsy.
Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office told Davao Today in a phone interview that there were four shooting and two stabbing incidents that happened during the first two days of the month.
She said that the shooting in Agdao was a drug-related incident.
In previous report, the crime volume in Davao City during the first quarter this year went down from last year’s 4,043 to 3,846 with cases mostly related to illegal drugs trade. (davaotoday.com)
