TAGUM CITY — Reacting on the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) survey, presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, March 14 said that his campaign is not shaped by survey, pointing out that he is not bothered at all.
The recent SWS survey results showed that Duterte ranked fourth with 21 percent after losing three percentage points in March. Duterte had 24 percent back in February.
“At the end of the day, I will be your last card,” Duterte said in a statement. Known for his popular monicker “The Punisher,” Duterte’s presidential campaign is anchored on fighting corruption, criminality, and illegal drugs.
“Let the campaign remain that way,” Duterte said. “Let the people decide.”
When asked if the latest SWS survey results as a reflection of the reception he is getting from his supporters on the ground, Duterte said: “Maybe by the standards of the survey companies.”
“I do not question survey companies. But you are not there until you are there. That has always been the rule in the elections. You are not there until you are there,” Davao’s tough-talking mayor said.
Duterte’s presidential rival, Senator Grace Poe took the lead with 27 percent while Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay got the nod of 24 percent.
Liberal Party’s presidential bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas II with 22 percent and Miriam Defensor-Santiago who scored four percent.
“It’s good,” Duterte said in response to questions from reporters about the SWS survey which had also placed administration bet Mar Roxas ahead of him. Asked to comment on the standing of Roxas, Duterte said: “swerte siya (he is lucky).” (davaotoday.com)
