TAGUM CITY, Philippines—A government employee was arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a buy-bust operation on Tuesday, October 31.
Anti-drug operatives arrested Christopher Bancil Banot, 41, a local government unit driver and and a resident of Barangay Lawa, Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental.
He was arrested around 12:05 p.m Tuesday in an operation in Barangay Kinanga, Poblacion, Don Marcelino town where he sold a sachet of suspected shabu worth P1,000 to a PDEA agent.
Authorities said they recovered another small sachet of suspected shabu with a value of P2,000 and the P1,000 buy-bust marked money bill.
Banot is now detained at the PDEA Regional Office XI detention facility in Davao City.
He is facing charges for violations of the country’s anti-narcotics law, specifically Section 5 and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The PDEA said that if found guilty, Banot will be meted with the maximum penalty for the unlawful act and will be disqualified from holding any public position. (davaotoday.com)
