DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Despite not having been seen in public for almost a week now, President Rodrigo Duterte is in the pink of health, the Palace’s communications secretary on Monday assured.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar told a phone interview with DZMM that Duterte will even meet with the National Economic Development Authority officials.

The President will also be sharing an Eid’l Fitr’r dinner with Muslim leaders on Tuesday night.

“President Duterte is in the pink of health. He will meet with NEDA officials to talk about economic policies and updates,” Andanar said.

Andanar confirmed Duterte was in Davao City during the past few days for his private time and rest and is expected to meet with them today for the meeting.

“Hindi naman ibig sabihin na hindi nagpapakita ang Pangulo, hindi nagtratrabaho dahil sa isang—kahit sinong CEO kung hindi nagpakita ay minsan ay nandoon lang sa opisina nagpipirma lang ng mga dokumento etcetera, mini-meet iyong ibang mga tauhan (It doesn’t mean that the President is not working if he is not seen in public. Any CEO, when not seen by the public, is just inside the office signing documents, meeting his people),” Andanar added.

“The President is strong, our public has nothing to worry about,” he said.

Duterte last appeared in public in Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City on June 20 following his visit to the evacuees from Marawi City and the government troops who are wounded in action.

Duterte said he traveled “incognito” and talked to people whose identities he did not disclose.

Speculations on his health conditions appeared days after he skipped the Independence Day rites last June 12.

Malacañang also dispatched photos on June 15 showing Duterte during the departure honors at Villamor Airbase in Pasay City, the President signing some documents in Malacañang’s Balay Pagbabago and photos taken with his Special Assistant Christopher Go. (davaotoday.com)
