DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Saying that he is still looking at the track records of candidates for this year’s midterm election, Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy said he has no plans yet to endorse any candidate seeking political positions.
Speaking before reporters during the soft opening of his “The Village for Chinese New Year” at his prayer mountain in Tamayong, Davao City, the pastor emphasized he would not announce yet the names of candidates he would support as he is still weighing things.
But he also admitted he has already chosen some names but opt to keep them in secret.
Quiboloy is the founder of the religious group “Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name”.
“I have chosen already but I am thinking of keeping it secret. I plan not to endorse anyone before or after because in my own experience, some get hurt especially those whom I would not endorse,” he pointed out.
He also told reporters that a number of politicians vying for local and national positions have already visited and talked to him about the upcoming election.
“I looking for someone who can help our country today and can give progress” Quiboloy added.
The pastor refused to divulge who among the senatorial candidates are closer to his heart though he mentioned some big names who asked for his support.
The names include former General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, and Senator Koko Pimentel.
He also acknowledged watching the endorsement of senatorial candidates made by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Quiboloy added among the basis of his support, aside from the President’s endorsement, is on how will the candidate contribute to the development of the country and provide support to the war against illegal drugs.
Quiboloy said he will sit down first with the leadership of his group before he will make his announcement to the public.(davaotoday.com)
