TAGUM CITY — Two unidentified motorcycle-riding men gunned down a town police chief of Compostela Valley on Wednesday morning, March 2, at Sobrecarey corner Mabini Streets in this city, police said.

Inspector Anjanette Tirador, Tagum City police spokesperson, identified the victim as Chief Inspector Ger Igtanloc Jr. He was slain in broad daylight after he brought his children to Magugpo Pilot Imelda Elementary School.

Iglantoc, 38, was the chief of Maragusan police in Compostela Valley.

Based on the initial report, Police Chief Inspector Andrea G. Dela Cerna, Public Information Officer of the Police Regional Office of the PNP said the victim sustained 13 gunshot wounds.

“He was declared dead on arrival in the hospital,” said Dela Cerna during the AFP-PNP press corps media conference on Wednesday in Davao City.

“His assailants wore black jackets on board a TMX motorcycle,” Tirador said, describing Iglantoc’s assailants. She added that they are on the process of identifying the suspects based on the video footage of the crime scene.

While police authorities have yet to determine the motive of the killing, Tirador said that a special investigation Task Group “Iglantoc” was formed to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident.

“In the coming days, we will release the cartographic sketch of the suspects. We are closely working with the witness in order to identify the perpetrators of the crime,” she said. (With a report from Ace R. Morandante/davaotoday.com)
