DAVAO CITY — The city government has asked businesses here to light up also their stores as the city prepares its usual lighting up the city beginning December 4.
City Administrator Melchor Quitain said he told businesses that this was “one way of attracting your customers because if you don’t, people would just be converging here at the City Hall and the park and they would not move out of this place because your establishments have no lights,”  he said.
Quitain met businessmen yesterday along the busy streets of San Pedro, Magallanes and City Hall Drive and requested them to cooperate with the government.
But Quitain qualified that the city would not be forcing businesses to comply with the request. (davaotoday.com)
