DAVAO CITY – The Davao Dragon Boat Association, Inc. (DDBA) picked Davao City to host the Bugsay Mindanao 2 this year with the theme “Paddle for Peace”.
The dragon boat race will happen on May 15 to 16, 2015 along the beach line of Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao.
Paddlers from all over the Mindanao will gather to participate in the said event.
Seven teams already confirmed in joining the event. Three local teams under the supervision of DBA: Dragons Del Sur, Base Camp Dragons and Hiraya Minokawa. Visiting teams from Mindanao include FSUU Blue Dragons (Butuan City), Liceo De Cagayan Dragonoids (Cagayan de Oro City), Bakunawa (Iligan City), and Agusan del Sur Dragon Boat Team.
Racers will compete in the 200 and 2,000 meter class that will feature three categories including Open/Men’s Standard Boat, Mixed Standard, and Women’s Small Boat.
The first day of the event will open to the arrival of the participants and giving practice runs to all participating crews.
The race will formally start on the second day and will be capped by an awarding and closing ceremony.
The event is supported by the City Government of Davao City thru the City Sports Development Division, City Tourism Office and Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao.
