DAVAO CITY – Two former New People’s Army guerrillas who surrendered to the military were reportedly taken by the NPA on Sunday afternoon, an official of the military said.
In a statement on Thursday, Eastern Mindanao Command spokesperson Col. Romeo Brawner identified the two as the Manlayan brothers, Oto and Sanchez, both residents of Barangay Tagbalili, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.
Brawner said the two, who surrendered on 2004, were along the vicinity of Libang River, catching fish around 4:00 pm on April 12 when they were taken by NPAs led by a certain Randy Mantigmoan alias Bonjoy.
The 26th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Rolando Dumawa said that they are already coordinating with municipal officials, the police and Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) for possible courses of action.
