Senior Deputy Minority Leader Neri Colmenares today scored Pres. Benigno Simeon Aquino III not only for his continued refusal to accept accountability for the Mamasapano botched operations but for adding Gen. Purisima and the BOI in his list of ‘persons to blame’.
The President may have the cleanest hands in the Philippines today. After all, he has been washing it in the last five years,” said Colmenares.
Colmenares said the president’s refusal to admit accountability in the death of the SAF 44 among others, while adding more names to his list of “blamables”, further fuels the clamor for him to step down.
“Blaming his friend Gen. Alan Purisima for failing to coordinate with Gen. Espina and Gen. Catapang is one of the worst defenses ever since Gen. Purisima has no authority to coordinate because he was suspended from his post at that time. Pres. Aquino was the one in a position to coordinate with the AFP and PNP and not Gen. Purisima. In fact, Pres. Aquino should not have allowed him to command the operations in the first place and defy the suspension order of the Ombudsman,” said Colmenares.
