DAVAO CITY – The Tagum City government rewarded the informant which led police and anti-narcotic agents to seize a P9 million-worth of illegal drugs last Friday.

According to a Tagum City Information Office dispatch, the confidential informant personally appeared before City Mayor Allan L. Rellon last Wednesday to receive a reward with undisclosed amount.

A kilo of “shabu” (metamphetamine hydrochloride), said to be worth P9 million was allegedly transported by two couriers from Marawi City through the provinces of Agusan.

The drugs were said to have been intercepted by the combined forces of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency XI and Tagum City Police near the Tagum City Overland Transport Integrated Terminal.

PDEA was said to have identified Tagum City as a “strategic trans-shipment point for illegal drug users, although there is no evidence of manufacturing activities.”

Rellon is to reconstitute the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council to intensify the campaign on drug abuse prevention.
