BIFF: ‘We don’t care with MILF’s political party’

DAVAO CITY—A spokesman of a Moro breakaway group on Tuesday said it wouldn’t support the United Bangsamoro Justice Party formed by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Abu Misry Mama, spokesperson of Bangsamoro Freedom Fighter (BIFF), in a phone interview with Davao Today, said, “We don’t care with MILF’s political party. Ours is to have a pure Islamic State in Mindanao. We will never involve ourselves in something that we don’t believe and support.”

Mama said MILF had its own way of negotiating with the government while his group, the BIFF, “will continue to wage an armed struggle to claim Mindanao’s independence.”

Mama said that even after the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law in Senate and Congress, the BIFF “won’t join and will continue to reject any form of peace process.”

“We are determined to fight until the last drop of our blood until the Bangsamoro independence is granted to us,” stressed Mama.

Meanwhile, the United Bangsamoro Justice Party is now being organized, a week after the symbolic turnover of the Bangsamoro Development Plan to the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA).

The party is composed of more than 11,000-strong members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and will field candidates to lead the Bangsamoro government in Mindanao.

“We have already named chairpersons in Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao and other areas,” MILF’s political affairs chief Ghadzali Jaafar reportedly said.

For Mama, the only way to resolve the decade-long Moro rebellion in Mindanao is to give what is due for the Bangsamoro people—their homeland Mindanao.

“Mindanao is for the Moro people. It is a fact based in history. We are only fighting for what we believe that is ours,” says Mama. (davaotoday.com)
