Violators of liquor and smoking ban arrested in Davao City

Jan. 15, 2015

The Sta. Ana police apprehended a number of violators of the liquor and smoking ban ordinances implemented in the city.

Verlito Llanillo, 33, a resident of Barangay Leon Garcia, Agdao, and Emmanuel Longakit 46, of Buhangin, were caught smoking cigarette Tuesday in Agdao Public Market. The ban covers public places and enclosed spaces.

The city’s Anti-Smoking ordinance issues tickets to violators but allows them to either contest the violation in court or voluntarily pay the P500 fine to avoid being criminally prosecuted within three days from apprehension.

Meanwhile, a group of friends were caught drinking liquor at 1:40 am, past the 1:00 am ban, along SOS Park Avenue in Bajada.  Alfredo Macapayag, 24, and a resident of the said place was caught with Larry Capenanes, a resident of Barangay Aquino, along with two other friends while having a drinking session of beer.
